Four Pregnancy Apps for the Tech-Mom

iOS and Android apps to guide you along

In today’s world, most moms are tech-savvy and have a smart phone on their person most of the time. So, it makes sense that app developers would see the value in creating apps geared toward the pregnant woman. With nearly 2000 pregnancy apps on the market today, it can be tough figuring out which option will suit you best – they are all so helpful and fun to use!

Below is a list of iOS and Android apps – all of which are free – full of excellent info and images sure to appeal to an expecting mom.

1. Full Term

iOS and Android

This app was created by a man who developed it for use during his own wife’s pregnancy. The interface is clean and clutter-free and the features include a Labor Contraction Timer, Pregnancy Reference & Kick Counter (who doesn’t love counting kicks?). The reference section is robust and the reviews speak for themselves: The Full Term app has a rating of over 4 stars.

2. iBirth

Endorsed by physicians and midwives around the US, iBirth™ is an ideal guide to greater health – and the developers have remembered mental health too! This app has a feature called Daily Inspirations which are focused around humour and the joyfulness of pregnancy. The positive and informative notes come from a variety of today’s leading experts and can be customized to the user’s specific due date.

Possibly my favourite aspect of this app is the prenatal nutrition section, which includes sections devoted to alternative diets, a daily nutrition requirement outline, and information on nutrients and how to increase your body’s nutrient absorption rate.

3. WebMD Pregnancy

iOS and Android

Rated Best Pregnancy App by LiveScience in 2015, this app is full of information and answers to questions about diet, symptoms, emotional wellbeing and so much more. WebMD curates helpful advice from experts, and the articles are reviewed by MDs for clarity. They’ve also included a section that is “Just For Dads.”

4. What to Expect Pregnancy and Baby Tracker

iOS and Android

This app offers comprehensive week-by-week, day-by-day, hour-by-hour (!) information about your growing baby and belly. It includes nutrition and exercise advice, with sound medical knowledge from this fount of pregnancy knowledge.
