How To Beautify Your Brows Naturally

Keeping your eyebrows looking healthy and shaped naturally isn’t rocket science. One of the best things you can do is to just leave them alone. Embracing the natural shape of your brows is totally “in” and that means focusing on keeping them healthy and looking luscious. Don’t forget, your eyebrows are hair and they deserve the same care.

1. WHEN SHOULD I CLEANSE MY BROWS?

Over-cleansing can cause damage to both hair and skin, so I typically recommend it only before bed. Since cleaning your eyebrows is easy while you’re washing your face, doing them at the same time only makes sense. This keeps the hairs and underlying skin free of debris, dirt, and makeup—if you’re wearing any.

2. BRUSHING & PLUCKING

Brushing

I remember having an eyebrow brush in one of my first makeup kits as a kid, and I had no idea what it was doing for my brows—but I was using it every day! Then I found out that brushing your eyebrows is a way of gently distributing the natural oils throughout the brow, providing them with a bit of natural shine and protection.

Tweezing

Tweezing your eyebrows can be helpful for the odd hair that crops out around the natural shape of your eyebrows, but using them to shape your eyebrows often leads to over-plucking which can cause an unwanted brow shape.

3. WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD YOU USE?

Steer clear of brow pencils and gels that contain synthetic chemicals, fragrances, and other harsh ingredients. These may irritate the skin or damage the brow hairs over time. Try using a clean powder or eyeshadow to fill in your eyebrows if they are sparse. Some people like using henna, which can give a semi-permanent tint to the brow.

Brows Feeling Dry? Try Oil

Just like the hair on your head, eyebrow hair can be prone to getting dry, too. Apply a pinky-sized amount of castor or coconut oil to the eyebrows after cleansing and before bedtime. This can make the eyebrows softer and stronger, and look more moisturised—especially if you tend to have dandruff on the underlying skin.

Beautifying your eyebrows is easy. With proper cleansing and maintenance products and techniques, you too can have beautiful luscious brows—naturally!
