EcoParent is committed to providing our users and community with a web site that respects their privacy.

Any personal or other information you provide is protected under the federal Privacy Act of Canada. This means that, at the point of collection, you will be informed that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected and that you have a right of access to the information.

We do not automatically gather any personal information from you, such as your name, phone number, e-mail or address. This information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily, usually through contacting us via e-mail, signing up to receive our newsletter or other electronic communications, or registering in a secure portion of the site.

We use software that receives and records the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer that has contacted our Web site. Our newsletter also utilizes a non-obtrusive tracking mechanism, for the purposes of collecting statistics, which does not and cannot collect any personal information from you. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site.

Visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except EcoParent personnel who need the information, e.g., to respond to a request.

If you participate in EcoParent's online activities such as discussion forums, reviews, classified ads, etc. we may ask you to volunteer personal information such as your name and email address for the purposes of effective administration of such activities. In some cases, our groups are limited to member only discussions and as such cannot be accessed by the general public.

If we alter our privacy policy in any way we will post those changes here so you can be aware of anything that may affect you in the way we disclose information.

By accepting the present Privacy Policy, by accessing and/or using the Services, you accept the use of cookies and other similar technologies by EcoParent, as well as by third parties such as Facebook or our advertising partners. These third parties can place and read cookies and other similar technologies, such as device identifiers, web beacons and tracking pixels, which collect the information whenever you make use of the Services.

In particular, EcoParent uses the following third party cookies to collect information with statistical purposes about your use of the web platform and to include advertising in our Services:

  • Google Analytics - used to provide statistics and analysis about the number of visits, their duration, your socio-demographic data (language, location, Internet supplier...), etc.
  • Google Remarketing - used to allow EcoParent to serve customized advertising via the Google Advertising Network to previous website visitors
