Rick Smith is a prominent Canadian author and environmentalist and former Executive Director of the Broadbent Institute. He was Executive Director of Environmental Defence Canada from 2003 to 2012 and is the co-author, with Bruce Lourie, of Slow Death by Rubber Duck: How the Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Life Affects our Health. Rick has a PhD in biology from the University of Guelph. He lives in Toronto with his wife and their two young sons.
He has been President of the Canadian Climate Institute since 2021.
